The top US Democrat was on a visit to Luxembourg to mark the anniversary of the WWII battle of the Bulge
Former US House Speaker Nancy Pelosi has been admitted to a hospital in Luxembourg while on a congressional trip to Europe, according to her office.
Pelosi, 84, was in Luxembourg with a bipartisan delegation to mark the 80th anniversary of the WWII Battle of the Bulge.
The California Democrat “sustained an injury during an official engagement and was admitted to the hospital for evaluation,” her office said in a statement, adding that she was “receiving excellent treatment from doctors and medical professionals.”

According to the statement, Pelosi will be “unable to attend” the remainder of the events scheduled for the congressional delegation, but “looks forward to returning home to the US soon.”
There have been unconfirmed reports that Pelosi may have fallen and broken her hip, which would require surgery.
She was reportedly one of the key players who, in July, pressured then-President Joe Biden to drop out of the re-election race in July, which allowed the Democrats to nominate Vice President Kamala Harris instead.
Pelosi has represented San Francisco on Capitol Hill for 37 years and is one of the most powerful Democrats in Washington. She was the first woman to be elected speaker of the House and held the gavel for four sessions of Congress (2007-2011 and 2019-2023).
