April 25 marks World Malaria Day, a time to draw attention to one of the world’s oldest and deadliest diseases. While significant strides have been made in prevention and treatment, malaria still claims hundreds of thousands of lives annually, with Africa bearing the brunt. In 2023 alone, the mosquito-borne illness killed nearly 600,000 people.
