Death of Pope Francis: ‘It came as such a shock to so many’

Pope Francis’ death on Monday, despite his well-advanced age, came as a shock to many, FRANCE 24’s Seema Gupta said, reporting from Rome

After interviewing people that gathered at Saint Peter’s Square following the announcement of the pope’s passing, Gupta said many were shocked upon learning the news.  

“Clearly, an emotional day, an Easter Monday … considering what happened on Sunday, I think that’s why it came as such a shock to so many”, Gupta said, citing Pope Francis’ brief public appearance on Sunday.
