The Eiffel Tower was temporarily evacuated Tuesday morning following an electrical short circuit in an elevator shaft, according to French media reports.
The incident triggered a fire alarm and occurred between the second floor and the summit of the iconic Parisian landmark. Authorities confirmed that no visitors were at risk during the evacuation.
The tower was expected to reopen later in the day, but access would be limited to the second floor, Le Parisien reported.
The cause of the electrical short circuit has not yet been determined.
