Tech billionaire Elon Musk sparked controversy during President Donald Trump’s inauguration ceremony on Monday with a gesture that appeared similar to a Nazi salute.

Musk, one of Trump’s closest advisors, was among the speakers on stage before Trump arrived at the Capital One Arena in Washington.

During his speech, Musk thanked supporters, placed his right hand on his heart, and then quickly raised it, saying, “My heart is with you,” repeating the gesture once more.

Users on X, the platform owned by Musk, pointed out that the gesture resembled a Nazi salute. American network CNN replayed the footage multiple times, with one anchor remarking that viewers are intelligent enough to form their own opinions on the matter.

“Frankly, they need better dirty tricks. The ‘everyone is Hitler’ attack is sooo tired,” Musk posted on his X platform in response to the controversy.
