In response to tensions with Algeria, France is preparing a list of “several hundred” Algerian nationals with “dangerous profiles” to be sent back to Algeria, according to Interior Minister Bruno Retailleau.

These individuals, who may be involved in public disturbances or listed as radicalized in France’s terrorism database, are considered threats to public safety.

Retailleau emphasized that Algeria’s response to this request will be a “test of truth.”

He cited the case of a terrorist attack in Mulhouse, where a Portuguese national was killed by an individual who should have been deported to Algeria but was refused multiple times by the country.

Retailleau also defended France’s policy of granting visas to imams during Ramadan, stating that they are strictly controlled and should not be compared to self-proclaimed imams spreading hate speech. The French government has also imposed measures at its borders, such as requiring a mission order for Algerians holding diplomatic passports.
