The 2024 Global Tourism Barometer, published by the World Tourism Organization (UNWTO), reveals that Morocco is one of the global leaders in recovering from the COVID-19 pandemic.

While worldwide tourism in 2024 has reached 99% of its pre-pandemic levels, Morocco has exceeded its 2019 performance by 35%, with 17.4 million tourist arrivals. This positions Morocco 8th globally, and 4th among countries with significant tourism arrivals, surpassing regional competitors like Tunisia and Egypt.

Morocco’s tourism receipts have increased by 43% compared to 2019, further solidifying its position as the African leader in tourism recovery.

The report offers strong arguments for Morocco’s Ministry of Tourism, led by Fatim-Zahra Ammor, to defend its achievements amid political opposition and criticism over tourism management.
