Jamal Choukri, a 44-year-old truck driver originally from Morocco died Thursdayin a tragic multi-vehicle crash on the Sydney Harbour Bridge involving four cars and a bus.

Jamal was en route to work when a blue Hyundai i30, driven by a 51-year-old man, veered into oncoming traffic from the northbound lanes. The Hyundai collided with a Mercedes before crashing into Jamal’s Hyundai Accent, Australian media reported.

Both men died at the scene, with authorities confirming their deaths shortly after their arrival.

A close friend of Jamal described him as a “very kind soul” who “loved life.” They expressed their devastation, saying, “We are so heartbroken; he was our kind soul.”

Acting Superintendent Clayton McDonald stated that initial investigations suggest the crash was caused by the Hyundai veering into the southbound lanes. He confirmed that multiple calls to emergency services prompted a swift response from police and paramedics.

Two other individuals sustained injuries, including a pregnant woman who was taken to the hospital with minor injuries. Fortunately, the bus driver was unharmed, and there were no passengers on board.

Dashcam footage revealed the Hyundai moving at high speed before abruptly swerving into oncoming traffic, leading to the catastrophic collision. Investigations are ongoing as authorities work to piece together the events that led to this tragic incident.
