Douae, 14, and Houda, 15, who were reported missing after disappearing from a hostel in Tavistock Place on Tuesday, 28 January, have been found safe, British police confirmed today to Hespress EN.

The two girls, who had arrived in London on 25 January as part of a week-long student exchange programme, were discovered at a relative’s home in the city.

According to British authorities, the girls had been there with the intention of immigrating illegally.

The police had launched an urgent investigation following their disappearance, expressing concern for their welfare due to their unfamiliarity with London and their vulnerable position as foreign minors.

Detectives from the Central North Command Unit had been in contact with the Moroccan embassy and the company running the exchange programme, to ensure the girls’ families were kept informed.

The two girls, who were due to return to Morocco on 1 February, are currently being supported by authorities as inquiries continue.

Further details about their motivations for attempting to leave the UK are still being investigated. The student exchange programme they were part of was not associated with any specific school, but was instead run by an independent company.
