Professor Anasse Bari, a Moroccan expert in artificial intelligence, has been awarded the 2025 Martin Luther King Faculty Award by New York University (NYU) in recognition of his commitment to education and research.
This prestigious honor acknowledges professors who demonstrate leadership and dedication to the values of justice and equity championed by the American civil rights leader.
Bari, who leads the Predictive Analytics and Artificial Intelligence Lab at NYU, has supervised research teams developing AI tools for healthcare, climate change mitigation, combating misinformation, and pandemic preparedness.
In his acceptance speech, Bari emphasized the importance of serving communities while upholding values such as equity and justice.
Holding a PhD in Computer Science from George Washington University, Bari expressed his pride in receiving the award, viewing it as a recognition of the values he learned in his home country, Morocco.
