The Spanish Civil Guard announced on Monday the arrest of seven suspected members of ISIS during security operations conducted in close collaboration with the Directorate General for Territorial Surveillance (DGST).
Three suspects were apprehended in Toledo province, following intelligence provided by the DGST on a group nearing full radicalization.
According to the investigation, one of the suspects exerted influence over his surroundings and spread jihadist propaganda, which was shared on social media by several of his supporters, including a minor who was also arrested.
Searches carried out during the operation, in which the DGST played a key role, led to the seizure of multimedia materials promoting terrorist organizations and violent acts, including suicide attacks.
Further operations in Pontevedra and Madrid resulted in the arrest of several individuals hiding jihadist propaganda in videos disguised as content promoting physical fitness and self-defense techniques.
These operations, supported by Europol, were supervised by Spain’s central court and aimed at dismantling radicalization networks and preventing potential terrorist threats.
