The Guardia Civil arrested a 44-year-old Moroccan woman at Barcelona’s Josep Tarradellas Airport on March 4th after she was found to be smuggling 2 kilograms of cannabis inside her body, concealed in 187 capsules.

She arrived from Fes, Morocco, and her nervous behavior caught the attention of the border control agents from the Unit of Analysis and Border Research

. After being taken to the infirmary, an X-ray revealed a large number of objects in her stomach.

The woman was subsequently arrested and transferred to Bellvitge University Hospital, where a medical procedure to extract the drugs lasted three days.

In custody, the woman admitted to being a “drug mule” and swallowing the capsules before her flight.

The Guardia Civil issued a warning that pressure or abrupt movements could cause the capsules to break, releasing the drug and potentially leading to severe and fatal poisoning.
