A New York priest has been stripped of his duties after an investigation revealed mismanagement and violations of diocesan policies, including allowing pop star Sabrina Carpenter to film provocative scenes for her music video Feather inside Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church.
The October 2023 video featured scenes of Carpenter dancing on the altar in a short black dress and a crucifix bearing profanity.
After condemning the video, the diocese uncovered further misconduct, such as unauthorized financial transfers and personal use of church funds.
The priest was also involved in transferring nearly USD2 million to accounts tied to a former staffer of New York City Mayor Eric Adams, who faces multiple corruption charges.
