Oswiecim in southern Poland is best known as the place where the Nazis built the Auschwitz-Birkenau extermination camp. But for the roughly 40,000 people who call Oswiecim home it is a place where daily life plays out much like anywhere else. With January 27, 2025 marking 80 years since the liberation of Auschwitz, some hope others too will soon start to see Oswiecim as more than just the site of Nazi crimes.
