Police in Sherwood, a city in Washington County are introducing this year what they call a “Hide and Seek With a Cop,” event to celebrate Halloween where armed officers try to tag participants in a park at night.

Reactions on social media are mixed; some praise the creativity, while others criticize the event as potentially dangerous. Comments include jokes about the safety risks, with one saying, “I’d go, but I like breathing,” and another commenting “I call it hide and seek, they call it resisting arrest.”

The event is scheduled for October 30. Participants will start at a theater stage, receive wristbands, and run about a third of a mile while avoiding being tagged.
