The Bucharest Court of Appeal ruled March 21 that a student of Moroccan-Turkish descent (with a Moroccan father and a Turkish mother) is to be banned from Romania for ten years.

This decision follows reports from Romania’s intelligence agency that classified him as a “terrorist threat.” The student, who also holds German nationality, arrived in Romania last year to pursue his studies at a private university in Bucharest.

However, his activities raised concerns among authorities by the end of the year, as they were deemed a potential national security risk.

The Romanian authorities alleged that the student supported active terrorist organizations in the Middle East and promoted extremist ideologies both online and within his social circles.

Intelligence reports further indicated that he accessed terrorist propaganda, including videos and images of attacks and armed militants. Given these concerns, preventive actions were taken to safeguard national security.
