Nicolas Sarkozy’s appeal has failed, in the highest French court.Condemning him to a year under ankle bracelet, for graft and influence peddling in what has become known as “the phone tapping scandal” and “the Paul Bismuth affair. But it’s not the end of the road for the former President, who’s going to take his appeal one step higher, to the European court of Human Rights. Refusing, in his words, to accept that profound injustice should be his fate, while maintaining his “perfect innocence”.
