Robert Maudsley, Britain’s longest-serving solitary prisoner, has allegedly gone on a hunger strike after prison staff confiscated his PlayStation, TV, books, and music system.

The 71-year-old serial killer, known as “Hannibal the Cannibal,” has been in isolation for nearly 46 years and is held in a specially constructed glass cell at Wakefield Prison.

His brother, Paul Maudsley, 74, told Mirror UK that Robert is refusing to eat after an “operational exercise” led to widespread searches in the prison.

“Bob’s section was out for a couple of days. Bob complained and he’s normally polite, but the prison officers accused him of being abusive,” Paul said. “When he finally got back in his cell, they had taken everything, his TV, PlayStation, books, and radio.”

Paul criticized the decision, saying it was “not fair” to deprive his brother of the few things that keep him engaged.

“He’s back to how he was 10 years ago when he didn’t have anything to stimulate him, and he would just sit there and vegetate,” he explained. “

According to Paul, Robert has vowed not to eat until his belongings are returned.
