“I want to talk to the manager right now!” the tech billionaire complained
X owner Elon Musk has complained about seeing too many Nazi salutes in his feed, apparently mocking complaints about a gesture he made during an inauguration rally for US President Donald Trump earlier this week.
On Thursday, Musk quipped that he would lose his mind if he sees “one more damn Nazi salute in my feed,” adding: “This algorithm sucks!! I want to talk to the manager right now!”
The billionaire had previously dismissed as ridiculous claims that the gesture he made at the Capital One Arena on Monday had anything to do with Nazism. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has defended Musk from detractors, praising him as a “great friend” of the Jewish state who is being “falsely smeared.”
The Anti-Defamation League (ADL), a pro-Israeli anti-Semitism watchdog, also dismissed the allegations, describing the gesture merely as “awkward.” However, ADL CEO Jonathan Greenblatt criticized Musk’s mocking reaction to the controversy, referring in particular to a post on X that was full of puns referencing the names of senior Nazi figures.
“We’ve said it hundreds of times before and we will say it again: the Holocaust was a singularly evil event, and it is inappropriate and offensive to make light of it,” Greenblatt said.
