US President Donald Trump has the power to fire anyone within his administration, the White House said Tuesday as it fended off questions from reporters about his shock sacking of 17 government inspectors.
“He is the executive of the executive branch, and therefore he has power to fire anyone within the executive branch that he wishes to,” Trump’s spokeswoman Karoline Leavitt said of the move, which is widely considered to have been illegal.
