Republican representative from South Carolina, Joe Wilson raised serious concerns about the Polisario Front, describing it as a significant threat to the stability of North Africa before US Congress.
Wilson called the Polisario a terrorist organization, highlighting its dangerous ties with U.S. adversaries, including Russia, Iran, and Cuba.
He argued that these alliances aim to destabilize the region and undermine the security of Morocco, a key U.S. ally.
Wilson reminded Congress that the United States officially recognized Moroccan sovereignty over the Sahara in December 2020 under President Trump’s administration.
He also condemned the provocative actions of Algeria and the Polisario, particularly their recent invitation to Kurdish separatists in Tindouf. According to Wilson, this move was a direct affront to Turkey, a NATO member and a major U.S. ally.
