The U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) has been instructed to review and remove climate change-related content from its public websites, according to internal emails obtained by ABC News.

Web managers have been tasked with identifying, archiving, or removing pages mentioning climate change by the end of the week. The department’s Office of Communications (OC) is overseeing this process and categorizing content into three levels of urgency: “Tier 1” for pages focused on climate change, “Tier 2” for content where it’s a significant portion, and “Tier 3” for pages where it’s briefly mentioned.

This move comes after a series of actions by the Trump administration to roll back climate policies, including withdrawing from the Paris Agreement and promoting fossil fuel production.

The USDA, traditionally involved in climate research related to agriculture, has faced criticism for removing vital information on climate change’s impact on farming and rural communities.
