One of late Pope Francis’s iconic popemobiles is being repurposed into a mobile clinic for children in Gaza, Vatican News reported Sunday.

The vehicle, used during his 2014 pilgrimage to the Holy Land, was donated to aid group Caritas Jerusalem as part of the pope’s final humanitarian wishes.

The transformed popemobile will function as a roving pediatric clinic, equipped with doctors and medical staff to serve injured and malnourished children in areas of Gaza cut off from basic healthcare.

Deployment will begin once safe access to the besieged enclave is possible, according to Caritas.
