Shrek 5 is set to be released in theaters next December, bringing back the iconic original cast, Mike Myers, Cameron Diaz, and Eddie Murphy, alongside a new addition, Zendaya, who will voice Shrek and Fiona’s daughter, Felicia.

A teaser released by Universal Pictures on Thursday gave fans their first glimpse of Zendaya’s character, who appears to be a teenage ogre with Fiona’s red hair and Shrek’s distinctive eyes.

The fifth installment of “Shrek” has been in the works for years, with early mentions dating back to 2016, when writer Michael McCullers revealed he was developing the story. Originally scheduled for a 2019 release, the project went quiet for a while before resurfacing in 2023, with Illumination CEO Chris Meledandri expressing his desire to reunite the original cast. By last year, confirmation came that Eddie Murphy would return, and a solo “Donkey” spinoff was also in development. While the film was initially scheduled for a July 2026 release, it has now been pushed to December that year.
