Bahrain's backdated fixed electricity bill: sign-up window closes on Saturday 31 October 2026

Citizens who join the flat monthly billing scheme for their first home before the cut-off get a credit for the gap between their summer bills since May and the flat amount.

Bahraini households have until Saturday 31 October 2026 to join the Electricity and Water Authority's (EWA) fixed monthly bill on backdated terms. The offer follows an order from Crown Prince and Prime Minister Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, and Electricity and Water Affairs Minister Yasser Humaidan announced it on 12 October, as reported by Mubasher.

**How the flat bill is set.** EWA averages a subscriber's bills from June 2025 to May 2026 and turns that into one fixed sum paid each month across the year. A calculator on EWA's e-services site shows the figure before sign-up.

**The backdated part.** Registration counts from May 2026. For May to September 2026, EWA compares what it actually billed with what the fixed scheme would have charged, and records the difference as a credit on the customer's EWA account. That credit can then be used against electricity and water bills that fall due.

**Who qualifies.** According to EWA, as quoted by Akhbar Al Khaleej, the offer covers Bahraini citizens in their first home who hold a subsidised residential account and have at least six months of bills on record, provided they register inside the window.

**Payment.** Joining does not trigger an automatic card or bank deduction, EWA says; subscribers keep whichever approved payment channel they use now.

Registration is online at eservices.ewa.bh/fixed; EWA's contact centre number is 17515555. Akhbar Al Khaleej reported on 19 October that EWA teams were explaining the scheme at shopping malls as take-up rose.

**Why it matters:** The retroactive credit is tied to the window: EWA describes it as an exceptional opening, and the May–September 2026 difference is credited only to citizens who register by 31 October.
