Full scholarships at AUB and LAU open to school leavers from 10 Arab countries until 18 November
The US-funded Tomorrow's Leaders programme covers tuition, housing, a laptop and a US semester. No TOEFL or IELTS is needed to apply.
Applications for the 2027–2028 intake of Tomorrow's Leaders, a fully funded undergraduate scholarship, close on 18 November 2026. The programme is paid for by the US State Department's Middle East Partnership Initiative (MEPI) and places students at the American University of Beirut (AUB) or the Lebanese American University (LAU).
Who can apply. Citizens of Egypt, Jordan, Lebanon, Syria, Iraq and Yemen in the Mashreq and of Algeria, Libya, Morocco and Tunisia in North Africa, plus students from the West Bank and Palestinians legally resident in a third country. Applicants must be in their final school year now or have finished school in 2026. Students from Iraq, Libya, Syria, Yemen and the Palestinian groups who finished in 2025 also qualify. Final-year students must keep their grades up and pass their leaving exam, and teaching is in English.
What it pays for. According to the US Embassy in Beirut, the award covers tuition and enrolment fees, health insurance, accommodation, visa and residency costs, textbooks, a laptop and travel support, along with internships, faculty mentoring, leadership workshops and a semester of study in the United States.
How to apply. Applications go through tomorrowsleadersprogram.org, which publishes a checklist of required documents and a list of fields of study at both universities. Instead of TOEFL or IELTS, every applicant sits a free online English test from Arizona State University, linked once the application is started. The embassy advises sending a complete file early.
The embassy says the programme has more than 1,900 alumni.
Why it matters: For families in countries where a private university fee is out of reach, this award covers almost every cost, and students still in their final year can apply before their results are in.
