Saudi accreditation body's draft national standards for cancer centres close for comment on 24 October

CBAHI's draft would set one national reference for licensed oncology centres, from clinical care and governance to infection control and staffing.

The Saudi Central Board for Accreditation of Healthcare Institutions (CBAHI) is taking comments until Saturday 24 October 2026 on draft National Standards for Oncology Centers, according to the Istitlaa listing recorded by Bawadir.

The draft was posted on 24 September. The listing summary, as carried by Bawadir, presents the standards as the country's common benchmark for cancer services. Each licensed centre would be held to the parts that match the services it provides.

What the standards cover. The summary lists care quality and governance, infection and safety, staff skills, and measurement through indicators.

What it would change. A national standard gives every licensed oncology centre the same benchmark for accreditation. The summary does not say when the standards would take effect or whether centres would get a transition period; Hada could not open the full draft on Istitlaa to check.

Why it matters: accreditation standards shape how cancer centres are inspected, and through that how patients are treated. The consultation is in its last days: clinicians, hospital managers and patient groups can comment only until 24 October.
