Sfax climate-project competition for young people closes at noon on Wednesday 28 October 2026
Tunisia's Environment Ministry and the International Organization for Migration will train 30 projects, mentor 10 and give in-depth support to three winners; projects have to be developed or carried out in Sfax governorate.
Tunisia's Ministry of Environment announced on Friday 23 October 2026 a competition, run with the International Organization for Migration (IOM), to select the best innovative climate projects in Sfax governorate, open to young people and start-ups, Radio Nationale, Djerid FM and Tunisie Numérique report. The deadline is 12:00 noon Tunisia time (11:00 GMT) on Wednesday 28 October 2026. The youth opportunities site Jamaity describes 28 October as an extended deadline.
**Who can apply.** Per Jamaity's listing of the IOM's Youth x Climate programme, applicants are aged 18 to 34 with an innovative project that is being developed or implemented in Sfax governorate and that helps cut climate change or adapt to its effects.
**Fields named** - Circular economy and waste recovery. - Resilient agriculture. - Sustainable water management. - Climate adaptation.
**What winners get, per Jamaity** - 30 projects: entrepreneurship training. - 10 of them: tailored, project-specific mentoring. - 3 winners: in-depth technical support, training or certification depending on the activity, and introductions to financing and incubation bodies.
**How to apply.** Applications go through the IOM's online form at ee.kobo.iom.int/x/slbZ8Kb3, as linked by Jamaity, which also links the full conditions.
**What comes next.** Radio Nationale reports that a second phase of the competition will extend to other governorates with environmental partners; no dates are given.
**What is not stated.** None of the reports mentions cash grants or prize money, so support appears to be training, mentoring and connections rather than funding.
**Why it matters:** Water, farming and waste are among the named fields, and the competition offers young founders in Sfax a structured route to expertise and potential funders. Applications close at 12:00 Tunisia time on Wednesday 28 October 2026.
