Sharjah Theatre Days opens Emirati troupe submissions through 30 November for March 2027 edition
Sharjah’s Theatre Department has opened participation files for registered Emirati theatre troupes through 30 November 2026, with the 36th Sharjah Theatre Days set for 17–24 March 2027 alongside intellectual and training programmes.
Ahmed Bourhaima, director of the Theatre Department at the Sharjah Department of Culture and of Sharjah Theatre Days, chaired the first Supreme Organising Committee meeting for the festival’s 36th edition at the Culture Palace.
Committee members locked the festival window for Wednesday 17 March through Wednesday 24 March 2027, according to Sharjah 24 and corroborating Gulf English reports. Registered theatre troupes may submit participation files from the August announcement date through 30 November 2026. Coverage frames the competition around Emirati troupes, with an accompanying intellectual, critical and training programme that draws Arab artists and academics.
Founded in 1984, Sharjah Theatre Days also lists side strands such as the Sharjah Award for Arab Theatrical Creativity, an honoured local personality award, an intellectual forum and a forum for Arab theatre pioneers.
This is a different circuit from Cairo’s experimental CIFET strand already covered in an earlier Hada batch. For Gulf stage producers, the November filing date is the near-term production calendar item.
